"Isn't that wonderful." For a moment, Argine's attention flits to Eileen as well. She had been able to give her daughter quite a lot in her young life in many ways, but a large, solid family base had eluded them. The Rainmayr and Martens were largely off-Deck in recent generations and rarely heard from, and the Eichelns and Fioros had been more than a bit standoffish since her second marriage to her first husband's best friend. Her fingers reach quietly for Eileen's, and the younger woman instantly reaches back to squeeze them.
"You're not sure how many cousins you have?" Eileen tsks, voice light and a little forcefully cheerful. No need to linger on the fact her only real remaining family was the frail woman at the head of the table and a collection of men and women whom she affectionately called 'aunt' or 'uncle' in childhood. "We'll have to go visit them. I'll help you count."
